My Year 10 class have featured regularly in this blog, most recently when discussing An Inspector Calls in a recent post.
As term ended I decided it was time to allow a hybrid memory dump/planning session on the tables. This was so much more successful than simply making notes. What started in silence soon developoed into discussion of Priestley’s political vision and the nature of responsibility in society.
The pens – stabilo window and table crayons worked really well and all students were able to take part – researching quotations and responding to ideas.
I asked them what was good about this task:
Gavin: “Because we are not meant to be talking we have to think fully about our own ideas as well seeing what others think!”
Jamaal: “Normally we will cut in on people but here we have to read what someone thinks before we can respond – we have to think more clearly”.
Dylan (Bob…): This gives a wider range of ideas and we can see how someone else will expand on our points – this helps to develop our ideas for essays.
A great way to end the term!
