I have written a quick stimulus for my Yr13 students studying Macbeth on the AQA LitB course. I am trying to establish links between aspects of the play and later Gothic writing. This essay focuses on Lady Macbeth and her influence on the women who follow her from Lucy Westenra to the heroine of Angela Carter’s The Tiger’s Bride. I link to a couple of web pages in the essay and the idea is to engage the students with their own further study rather than to give them the finished article.
