This is a lecture sound file. The talk was given to Y11 during some teacher absence. The website referred to at the start is this one, where you will find thew map of USA Lynchings between the mid 19th and mid 20th Centuries. I cannot vouch for its utter accuracy, though the site is full of interesting articles about Race.
I try to put the ‘Dream’ into context, touching on Manifest Destiny and the emergence of greed as the driving characteristic of society at the time.
