My contribution to INSET this term is a short blitz on concentration. The exerceise are attached.
I’ve recently been chatting on Twitter about music and revision – I know itis a distraction, but I use it…. This PowerPoint gives an exercise – the number grid – which can prove it.
1: Ask the class to find the number 1 and then all numbers in sequence to 99. Give them 40 seconds to get as far as they can.
2: After 15 seconds begin to distract – music or a loud conversation will dom the trick ( you can repeat and try differetn distractions)
3: Give a new sheet and repeat. Do not distract this time….
They should mostly get quite a lot further through the sheet of numbers on this run.
